BACKGROUND

Annually, the Board of Supervisors appoints members of the Board to serve on boards, commissions and committees. This proposal recommends that individual members of the Board of Supervisors be appointed to these boards, commissions and committees based on a Board Member’s particular interest, expertise or leadership.

I recommend dissolution of the following subcommittees on March 31, 2023, because the subcommittees are inactive or will have fulfilled their purposes:  (1) Affordable Housing Solutions Ad Hoc Subcommittee, (2) Climate Advisory Subcommittee, (3) COVID-19 Issues Ad Hoc Subcommittee, (4) County Administration Center Building Occupancy/Waterfront Park, (5) Fiscal Management & Budget Strategy Subcommittee, (6) San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Fuel Removal, (7) Schools Subcommittee, and (8) Summit on Aging Subcommittee.

If a subcommittee needs additional time before dissolution, then that subcommittee will return to the full Board before March 31, 2023 with an update on what they have accomplished to date and what that subcommittee needs to accomplish their objectives.

LINKAGE TO THE COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO STRATEGIC PLAN

The proposed action supports the Strategic Initiative of Community Engagement in the County of San Diego’s 2023-2028 Strategic Plan by providing information, programs, public forums or other avenues that increase access for individuals or communities to use their voice, their vote, and their experience to impact change, as well as Community Partnerships to facilitate meaningful conversations, shared programming, grant opportunities, or other opportunities to maximize resources through community partnerships to benefit the region.

Respectfully submitted,

NORA VARGAS

Supervisor, First District
