Set a Hearing for November 17, 2026:
Ashwood Street Corridor Improvement Project and Right-of-Way Acquisition – Request to Extend Hearing Date to Consider Adoption of a Resolution of Necessity and Related CEQA Findings (District: 2)

Overview
On September 16, 2026 (04), the Board of Supervisors Set a Hearing for October 27, 2026.

The Ashwood Street Corridor Improvement Project (Project) will widen 1.1 miles from Mapleview St. to Willow Rd. The Project will improve safety by adding left-turn lanes and new signals at El Capitan High School and Ashwood St./Willow Rd., as well as improve pedestrian and bicycle facilities and trails. Construction of the Project requires acquisition of property rights from eight properties within the Project area, and contracts to acquire property interests from two private property owners are outstanding.

On September 16, 2026 (4), the County Board of Supervisors (Board) directed the Clerk of the Board to give the required notice and set a hearing for October 28, 2026, to consider adoption of a Resolution of Necessity to initiate an eminent domain action for the property rights required for the Project. However, the Department of General Services requires additional time to finalize the documentation necessary for the Board's consideration. This is a request for the Board to postpone the hearing date to November 17, 2026. The remaining two property owners have been notified that the County will not ask the Board to consider adoption of the Resolution of Necessity on October 28, 2026, and that staff is requesting that the Board set a new hearing for November 17, 2026, to consider the adoption of the Resolution of Necessity.
