Overview
Each year, the Chair of the Board of Supervisors holds the State of the County. The 2026 State of the County will be held on Monday, November 16, 2026, at 6:30 pm at the La Jolla Playhouse. To ensure residents have an opportunity to share their feedback, public comment will be heard during today’s General Legislative Session. Following the Wednesday Land Use Session, the Board will adjourn to the La Jolla Playhouse on November 16th to conclude the meeting with the State of the County Address.

Receive public comment on the 2026 State of the County Address at the October 27, 2026 General Legislative Session, then adjourn after the Land Use Legislative Session to November 16, 2026, at 6:30 pm at the La Jolla Playhouse to receive the 2026 State of the County Address.

Background
In accordance with the Board of Supervisors Rules of Procedure, Rule 5(g), the State of the County Address shall be scheduled for a date, time, and place at the discretion of the Chairperson giving the address.
The 2026 State of the County will be held on Monday, November 16, 2026, at 6:30 pm at the La Jolla Playhouse. To ensure residents have an opportunity to share their feedback, public comment on the State of the County will be received at today’s General Legislative Session. Then, after the Land Use Legislative Session, the Board will adjourn the meeting to November 16, 2026, at 6:30 pm at the La Jolla Playhouse to receive the State of the County Address by Chair Lawson-Remer.
The State of the County Address will be streamed live online for those unable to attend in person through the County News Center, YouTube, Facebook, X, and Vimeo.
Linkage to the County of San Diego Strategic Plan
The proposed action supports the Strategic Initiative of Community Engagement in the County of San Diego’s 2026-2031 Strategic Plan by providing information, programs, public forums or other avenues that increase access for individuals or communities to use their voice, their vote, and their experience to impact change.
